Ontario dumps sales tax on bikes to encourage more cycling instead of driving

An interesting tidbit to share.

It was announced this December. The usual provincial 8% sales tax no longer applies on:
  • bicycles under $1000
  • bike helmets
The government leader was quoted saying he hoped the move would encourage more people to bike instead of drive, or just increase physical activity. (Source)
