What a savings!

Hi all:

I have saved a ton of fuel by hypermiling. I was a very aggressive driver and now hypermile as a challenge among other reasons.

I started out by practicing better driving THEN I got the Scan Gauge II... huge MPG improvements within a few tanks.

My old average was 18.5 and now its 24. Combined epa is 19.5 in mostly highway. I'm wondering how to setup a profile to share my success story with precise fuel economy.

Thanks for all of your posts, BIG help!

Welcome to the site and congrats on the substancial leap in mileage. What made you choose to start hypermiling?

Thank you! I started a search on google about the 2011 Hyundai Sonata... I didn't find what I was looking for regarding the car but I did find an interesting article about Hyundai offering a Sonata Hybrid tester to Wayne Gerdes to hypermile. That's when I learned about hypermiling. Later, I learned how to properly use a scan gauge to get the best MPG's. It revealed how wasteful, at the very least, what "normal" driving can be.

It just makes sense to me to save a projected $1k per year in gas!

Oh and a correction regarding my first post. I meant to say the EPA combined is 19.5. MY driving is mostly highway, alebit very hilly highway.

Thanks,
Tyler
