Where to buy fine strand copper wire (~18ga)?

I have an intermittent connection on my 3d printer. No doubt the countless back and forth cycles of the table moving around have fatigued a wire and caused it to fail. I really don't want this hassle again, so I'd like to find some very fine strand copper wire that is very flexible and able to handle the cycling.

Any ideas where I could find some wire like this? I'm looking at around 18 gauge.

Go to McMaster-Carr and put 828 in the search box, that's the catalog page showing their ultra flexible wire. Browse around.

I found this...

http://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Flexi.../dp/B00RCCZQGM

Perhaps a local hobby store would have some.

Hmmm, according to mcmaster there is 'ultra flexible' as well as 'continuous flex'. I figured that they would be the same (though they are probably very similar).

You probably have something usable lying around, like old telephone receiver cable, headphone/microphone/guitar wire or the power cord of a vacuum cleaner.
All those are designed to bend many thousands of times.

RedDevil brings up a good point about telephone wire. That wire itself likely too small in guage(24) but the coil form would be helpful. Whatever you go with, coil it to spread the bend over a much longer section.

Thanks for the tips guys. I nabbed a small coil of silicon coated wire from a local hobby store last night. We'll see how that works out.
