I will probably install Android on my old laptop with a dual-boot setup. That way I can finally use apps on a real computer. I used to use Blue Stacks, but it never worked very well, and the last that I saw they were discontinuing it.

I have never used a dual-boot, but I remember having seen it on some older desktops.

I certainly remember that from years ago.

I would argue that it has become reality, given 100 dollars then had the purchasing power of a cheap Chromebook now. I suppose if you hand cranked diligently, you could supply the ~20W modern low performance laptops need.

For my actual PC, I think it's still worth buying good hardware. It's just so cheap to get a silly amount of RAM, and more cores get happily eaten up by keeping the Facebook and Gmail tabs open. However I've started using 100 dollar smartphones because I find the performance adequate, and that way I can just buy another one with minimal wallet impact if the screen breaks, the battery goes, etc.

It feels like several years since I bought my first Samsung Galaxy S6, but apparently it was released almost 5 years ago.

Relatively recently I compared its processor with those of the fastest flagship phone and new budget phones. The S6 was significantly faster than the budget phones and half as fast as the fastest flagship phone, but the second-fastest was much closer.
