Should be that high, but electrical installers don't follow that convention, they drill wherever. They also doesn't mount wall boxes to code heights.

Hope your composite post is actually waterproof, most aren't.

How about addressable led strips? 543 or 843 (number escapes me currently) just add power supply and data. If you don't need tricky coloring, harborfright & homedespot has XMAS lights that do this cheap

It's wood. The composite part was in quotes, that's what they called it. I'd have said glu-lam.

The RGB part may remain fantasy. Or I might run two strips in the 2" gap.
