Wife's impressive Kia and the little green light.
Some of you will know this routine. Wife wants another vehicle that doesn't guzzle like her Sante Fe. So, after sitting in dozens of used cars and test driving another dozen she settles on a 2010 Kia Forte Ex because it's "pretty".
I read most car reviews so I know the Forte was a pretty good car. Must say after a few days with it, I am REALLY impressed by the number of features that come with it......especially my favourite....the little green eco.
After years of trying to encourage economical driving from my wife, all it took was a little game of keep the green light on and she's enjoying the challenge. AAAuUGGHH!!

My favorite is when they insist they need the big guzzler to replace the economical car because >insert lame rationale here< then act all shocked when they're spending more on fuel. Derp Derp Derp

The guy I bought my Previa 5 speed from was finally buying a newer vehicle, so the van was going. He wanted a small 4x4 truck that he could a canopy on and put his canoe on top of. He really liked Toyotas, so there you go, problem solved, get a few year old Tacoma with a 5 speed. Showed up a week later with a V8 Tundra crew cab, because it "was bigger and more useful"? A week or so later I stopped seeing the Tundra, I asked him about it, he said "Man I am riding my bike to work now, that Tundra costs too much to put gas in!" Noooo! Shocking! The giant V8 truck costs more to run than your 4 cylinder, 5 speed van did? Maybe it needs an Eco light as well!

^Same story, different day. You hear it all the time. What is it with these clueless bastids? Simple math and even a vague estimation of how many miles they accrue reveals the fuel cost hit for getting a big barge. Oh well, maybe in this case it's a net gain because Derp Boy will replace more trips with the bike than he otherwise would have?

I have a relative that has a Kia with the "Eco" light. That's a requirement for his next vehicle. I guess I just don't understand why not just drive lighter without the light?
One of my coworkers just bought a house and he now needs a F250 for his house. When I get a house, I'm doing one of two things for house / building supplies:
1) Tow a trailer with the Cherokee I already own and rarely drive (it can tow 5000 pounds)
2) Buy a 4 cyl / 5 speed ranger (they get good mileage).
I love big trucks, don't get me wrong. I think a 3/4 ton, leaf sprung truck is about as good as they get. I just 1) Can't afford one 2) Don't want to gas up one. Back when I lived at home and my Taurus was on it's last leg, I was commuting in my dad's unused F350 XL (base model). I love driving the truck , but it got about 13MPG all the time. When I bought the Cherokee, it got 18MPG ... between the F350 and Cherokee, and the riduclous credit card holds that are placed when you buy gas on a credit card, my $500 credit card was getting turned off all the time with holds!

Because when a computer tells you when to shift and you're in it too far, you're going to get the best numbers!

My car gives me the best mileage when most of the red lights are on: Oil pressure, alternator, MIL...
