Redmond Oregon Municipal Airport saw first flight of the Perlan 2, which is intended to fly higher than the SR-71 Blackbird—without an engine. It is apparently the first sailplane with a pressurized cabin.
Forget getting electricity from the wind, squirting it over wires, and storing it in batteries that you have to lift into the sky. Of course there's only a few places in the world you could get to 90,00ft. But that's record-setting. And they will do it with fixed landing gear.
