bandit, tell you what I have one set left here at home I can always get more, but seeing how you've taken an interest in this, forward your address and I'll send this set (pair) to you.. then place them on the VW.. These are black but you can get them any color from rebadge even reflective..
let me know if you want this single remaining set i have as shown in this pic..

if you do want these.. just place the large opening towards the front or where the air/wind would enter.. this narrows the wind and creates that vortex.

One thing here if the VW is the air cooled ver, then you will need to watch how you add these things cause if no air is diverted to the vents above the engine.. you may have overheating issues.

Theoretically, anything that improves adhesion of the boundary layer will improve the cooling.
OTOH the question was about the [N}ew [B]eetle.

I don't research medical questions on my home computer, maybe cauterize with a butane torch?

I was thinking of these wings, not a hard thing to recreate, just need a putty knife to make a similar shape, and a proper material. Bondo? Or something that comes in a tube. Then prime and paint. Like maybe body seam sealant, or window urethanes

Just need the putty. Put an example on plate glass and press-mold an impression. Cure and invert.

Nothing more to say on this topic as we had them stuck on the van for some time and although I think they are working, there's nothing significant to them. Plus come April 15th.. this will mark 4 years of owning the van and through all those years, we've had success and failures.. but once the new front springs are installed on the van, our build list will have been completed and their nothing more to do to the van other than drive it. other than driving the van on the test track.. the van build is over in less than 1 month's time.

That matches my expectation, nice to have but not a game changer.
