Winter mpg

Ok so that's the salt is out here now I have put the vx away. Winter plans for it. The cx that I always got 42-43 mpg worst tank ever was 38-39. Well I got a tank that was 34. Ok no panic I had to commutes to work in blizzardlike conditions. I also was stuck in an accident for 45 min with the engine idling. Hey its like 20deg and I gotta work out in it all day. So I thought that was it well next tank same thing 34-35. I checked tire pressure I checked for dragging brakes I'm going to do cap and rotor as they are flakey looking. I've just never tracked every tank like I have been lately. It just seems like a large drop in winter I know 2-3 wouldn't surprise me but 7-8 seems high.

Look at my sig line for average summer and winter mileage. The difference is mostly caused by temperature.

Yup. Horrid MPG is just another one of the many services winter offers!

that's actually a nice list.... i may have to reference it more often when i explain on other forums why their winter MPGs drop.

wHILE i DO EXPERIENCE SOME WINTER DROP OFF, mine tends to be the gas mix because, I live in areas that dont have extreme low temps and bad weather.
Since the Q45 had automatic air/heat, I tend to run a/c all the time in the summer and very little in the winter. So I get some trade off there. (my summer mpg isnt as high as it could be)

Trips to/from work
95f- 45-46 mpg
35f- 35-36 mpg

Yes, winter SUCKS!

Yup..trips to work summer 38mpg and now 32mpg and thats with my car being garaged so the engine is much warmer

My driver car is always garages also Well I went to put new cap and rotor on car while test driving she's dead. No spark. Man I love having to get all the neighbors to help get the car uphill 300 foot driveway covered in ice and snow. And I can't push it into the garage. I beg to differ with the list in regards to cold tires more resistance. Hot tires sticks sticky well sticky. Witch rolls better a sticky ball or a hard ball? But now I got a dead cx...:(. Trying to find test specs for the dizzy igniter and coil.

I get 23 without much trouble in the summer, now I\'m stuck at 19. It\'s rather depressing.

Worst tank ever today with the Cobalt 36.75 mpg.
