EV Fleet Inc. 'Condor' electric 1/2 ton truck built in Charlotte NC

This is exciting news I came across yesterday - a new company called EV Fleet Inc. will begin producing an electric 1/2 ton truck chassis, with several different cargo options:

EV Fleet, Inc.: | Electric Pickup Trucks for Fleets.

http://insideevs.com/ev-fleet-readys...v-light-truck/

It has a 50kWh pack, and unusually, it has a 5-speed manual transmission. They claim it should have about 100 mile range at 65MPH. It has a flatbed option, a "pickup" option (that seems to lack rear wheel fenders), a box van option - and this is also available with 3kW of solar PV panels (that fold up into position) to power tools on the job site.

The cab is steel frame with a body made with a foam composite that provides ~R11 thermal insulation. It also has a large front storage area - a "frunk" to use Tesla's term.

A couple of brief videos here, and a local news report:

Very interesting. Cause I know someone is going to ask. It starts at $50k, not bad considering the alternatives.

I like the non-truck look too.

You need to get out more. There are lots of riced out small pickup trucks that look like they were combined with a wet/dry vac here.

Looks like a Ford Ranger cab?

It may bear some resemblance, but it is a fiberglass foam composite design of their own. It looks like the renderings had a bluff trailing edge on the sides of the fenders, but the actual truck has tapered surfaces; which is better.

The rendering shows a custom cab, but the rolling prototype has a Ranger cab (from the A-pillars back: doors, windshield, roof).

It looks very similar to the pick-up conversion of the old VW (type 1) bug.

Depending on how you look at it, the renderings don't seem so bad at all. It even resembles something like a scaled-down International LoneStar.
