Would anyone be interested in purchasing a Vetter challenge style fairing?
 

Or even just a tail section?

I am working on tooling to make my fairing and tail out of Fiberglass, and I thought I would throw this out there. I can make as many or as few as are wanted, but the more I make the lower the price per piece. I am working on the tail first, as this is the most universal part. when I am finished it should fit any motorcycle. and mount similar to a set of hard panniers. I will try to keep this thread up to date on my progress with pics and such.

If anyone is interested, let me know so I can figure out how much it will cost, Like I said the more I make the less it costs.

Anyway, I am about to pick up a full front off a Suzuki SV 650 including lighting and clip on barr at a bargain price so it will cheer me up :-D

I am interested in buying a front section if you could attach universal mounts. Put sufficient air holes in it to prevent overheating. I am interested in a rear section depending on price.
Could you ship in pieces to attach together to save on postage?

for the front, I could mold in cooling ducts, but cooling is very dependent on the specific bike. A liquid cooled 150cc scooter will require little to no front opening, while larger air cooled bikes will need all the help they can get.

Mounting would also be somewhat different for each bike, a universal upper mount is possible. the lower mounts might have to be tweaked for each different bike.

I am going to design this to ship as small as possible and to assemble without any fiberglassing on the part of the purchaser similar to fairing kits for sportbikes.

So, do you work for or with Craig Vetter? And has he given you permission to use his name on or in your products description? Is this his design, or your copy of his design?

I like his design. In fact I will eventually purchase one of his fairings for a Burgman I have my eye on.

So I guess I'm askig is are you affiliatted with Mr. Vetter and his products?
If not that could open you up for all kinds of Lawsuits?

Just thought I'd point this out to you that you have put yourself in a very precarious financial situation if you are using his Name without permission.

Might want to contact him and get his blessings before you continue.

Building areodynamic fairings for motorcycles is fine, but marketing a Vetter Challenge Fairing and making a profit off it is not the best way to do business.

This advice is very valid (especially in this lawyer country of yours), you'd better change the name of the thread (despite it says "style" and refers to the Vetter Challenge and not the Vetter fairing, the Vetter Challenge featuring a wide range of homemade streamliner fairings ...)

I am not affiliated in any way with Mr. Vetter. I am using the term "Vetter Challenge style", because this is the fairing I designed for, and have ridden with in the Vetter Fuel Economy Challenge. maybe I could just call it what it is, a dustbin fairing with a tail.

I have followed the Vetter Challenges for a number of years. I would say that your design is more than a dust bin and tail piece. It is a full body motorcycle fairing system. I would suggest you have a long talk with Craig Vetter as he is planning sales of his design and has considerable experience in maunfacturing and marketing. So far shipping fairings has been the biggest drawback to sales, not price or quality. Michigan is a good location for East Coast distribution and there are likely many businesses there that could economically produce fairings given a good design. It is the step from basement prototype to marketable product that is very steep unless you have some business knowledge. That is where I am with bicycle fairings for commuter bikes. Good hunting.

I personally think that price is also a large factor in aftermarket fairing sales. I researched what was available before building my own fairing, and came to the conclusion that the only currently available fairings were more cost than they were worth, since they are mostly designed for land speed racing. they don't even come close to meeting the requirements for a competition like the Vetter Challenge, and would not be very practical for everyday use. Craig's goal is to create a generation of truly useful high MPG machines, and I agree with him that to date this is not commercially available. Once Craig begins selling his kit, we will have one option. My hope is to put a second option on the table, but this is still a dream in the works for now. it looks like this year I should focus on finishing my prototype, and we'll see what happens after.
