You win some, you lose some.
The good news:
I finally talked my wife into putting the canoe on top of our camper instead of on the roof of the minivan!
The bad news:
Because we're now carrying two boats.
Oh well, overall it's atill probably an improvement.

I have bright ideas to save money, time, energy. Then my room mate comes up with a way to use what was saved.
How do you like the camper?

It's too bad that you can't fit one under the other on top of the trailer.

The camper does well, we've had it since 08. It's big enough to fit the four of us if the weather's so bad that we can't go out and we can fit a bunch of stuff in it while we're driving. But it's not so big that it encourages the kids to stay inside, and our minivan without the HD rear suspension can hold the tongue weight without sagging too much.
Believe me, I thought about trying to fit the kayak inside the canoe, but it has a crossbar that won't let it work. Still, it's good that one of the kids is big enough to run her own boat instead of just being a passenger. And this is a lot cleaner than the canoe on the van and nothing on the camper.

Yeah, but OTOH it won't be long before she's wanting her own car :-)
