Aerodynamic optimization or space optimization, GM's autonomous division's Cruise 'Origin' self-driving shuttle has no engine, no controls, no steering wheel, no pedals and tons of leg space for its six passengers. The doors automatically slide open like a minivan, which is meant to be convenient for multiple stops in crowded urban areas and also eliminates the chance of collisions between car doors, motorcycles, bikes and scooters. The batteries for all of Cruise's vehicles will be supplied from a new factory being built by GM and LG Chem in Lordstown, Ohio. Cruise will have several EV models will start with a pickup, available in 2021.
