This is the most amazing car I've ever known anyone to build. I'm speechless. I love it, I'm inspired!

Thank you for asking about the project. Sorry to say I don't have much to add as of late, except that I did go to Maine to be in this years TDIFest. That was quite a trip! It was a long ride from Rochester NY. but worth it. I was keeping up with traffic, passing logging trucks up mountains, if you know what I mean and still got 68 mpg! Got to the fest and checked the tank, I could have gone back home without adding fuel. That is a strange feeling after driving 544 miles.

About Hawaii, are those pics for real? Is it really getting nasty? Left overs from Japans problem? Know of any work on the islands involving renewables or something, I have experience in that field also....
Best regards.
68 mpg and going 544 miles on half a tank is simply incredible!

i could never buy a new car knowing that one could be built like yours

whats a ballpark number you spent on making it the way it sits together?

most of the pics are real but the place is slowly getting more crowded and polluted

we cant ship out all our trash so there are multiple landfills on island

and people still litter (both local and tourist)

it gets sad sometimes but i try my best

I'd love to see your car at the Green Grand Prix in Watkins Glen. Either entered in the competition or just bring it to show it off.

I've been emailing him about it, and he's in touch with Bob now. Hoping for good weather to take his car out of storage! This was the "mystery" member i was talking about.

I wonder what kind of wheels he has. I hear some of the old VW's had 4x100 bolt patterns. I'd like to see what it can do on RE92's

I would agree until I saw the 'bug-eyed sprite' thread.

I would lean toward the bug-eye because it was done so long ago and no internet to search.

About the soot smudge, I haven't seen anyone mention the PP520 injectors. Are you still using the PP520's? The Power Plus 520 will dump more fuel and are great for speedy fun but there are some other choices in injectors that would help with economy. Even the Sprint 520 injectors could help.

Thanks for pointing to that, I had a look. I'll disagree though, based on fit and finish and the unfortunate door-window line. With an extension of taper on the 'halfway' boatail and the original bug-eye lights, maybe.

If long ago/no internet are the criteria, the boattail model T wins.

Fair play....i loved both threads. I should be more supportive of the Sprite as it was built here!
