temps increased faster. got to a high of 220 but stayed in the 208 range

Also ordered a set of Goodyear 235/70/16 (like I discussed in an earlier post) used a set of 4 $110.00

I was going to just get 2 to start and run them up front. But 2 matched tires were $80 plus.

I got 4 matched tires for 110. Couldnt pass up.!

The full block w/ only the bottom slot on the top grille open ran too hot for me liking.
It was a cool day and the scangauage got to 225 water temp on a highway drive to New Bransfel, about 40 miles away.
I pulled off the entire upper grille and ran w/ that for 10 miles. The highest temp was 195.


Next I cut off the top slot and put the grille back on.




High was 215.

I'm going to see what my comutes look like this coming week.

just filled my second tank, 23.6mpg. includes comuting to wrk in stop and go traffic and acouple of 'non-mpg-freindly' drives!

as a side note, the odometer is very accurate compared to the Garmin GPS. off about 2/10ths of a mile over 330 miles.

got my 4 tires in today.
will have them mounted on friday and on SAT I can make some runs!!
got a match set of Goodyear 235/70/16 to replace the 235/60/16

Good luck with the Sportage. One of my friends had a 1997 that he modified for off-road. One time he parked next to a stock Sportage and his looked about a foot taller.

It is interesting to see a completely different project with a similar vehicle.

I am very pleased with the fit and ride. Considering that they were used, the better feel is not because of the thicker new rubber.
