Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for in these cars? Does the lil 1.3 hold up to miles pretty well?

They like to eat up wheel bearings (and an occasional ball joint/control arm ), but no nothing specific. I had one with over 200k miles on it and several with close to 200. Great little Mazda Drivetrain. Oh, one weak point may be the differential in the trans, but it seems to happen more often in the Aspires for some reason. Buy it!

festivas power trains were very good, this why the aspire adopted basically everything fro.
Id say get it while you can for 5-600 bucks.. you could easly get 40mpg from it and probably 55+ with some areo mods and hypermiling.

Well I put money down on it, and got a final price of $450. The brakes are pretty much nonexistant, but dirt cheap. The rears dont seem to be doing anything either, pulled e-brake and it didnt slow the car down at all. May just need adjusted though.
Tires have to be replaced, theyre all pretty bald and the one is showing cords. Wheels are 4x4.5 pattern if I remember. Wonder if 14's would fit.

Great buy there
I'll be on the lookout for something like that, I suspect with gas prices I'll be hardpressed to find anything like that for that price. Maybe a chevette lol.

Excellent! Congrats on your new family member!
Only pain with the brakes is changing the front rotors. Emergency brakes are lousy on all of 'em (such small rear rotors), but look for rusted cables. Sounds like you got yourself a deal!
FordFestiva.com is an excellent source for info and a friendly bunch over at FordAspire.com. Good Luck! Keep us posted.

im on both forums listed above, same user name. I intend to engine swap the 1.3 out of my aspire, probably lose 3-5mpg but DOUBLE my output. You can't beat that.
