D'OH!!!! I always default to the previous year about this time.

Good catch Vekke, I am a bit of an idiot sometimes.

Is it NA or is it turbocharged?
It seems that turboing the diesels nets a fair boost to FE.

Just an NA. 54 screaming ponies( when new). I like the engine as is. I know that electronic injection and turbo charging do make for a more efficient engine( being a Freightliner tech.), but this is what I have.

Have you tried a CAI?
Cold Air and Ram Air - EcoModder
Apparently diesels like air.

I have a replica of the stock fresh air intake from the air cleaner assembly to the right front headlight bezel. This is fed fresh air from the holes in the air dam, ahead of the radiator. Improving it is on my to-do list.

Sheepdog- Ha! 80 it is.

Slight hiccup on this tank, a wire tie holding my fuel return hose broke and the hose fell onto the timing belt, wearing through the hose. I've made a temp fix and will fix it properly tomorrow.

Calibrate your speedometer and especially odometer against a nice GPS. Stock setup can underreport miles - mine did. That way you give yourself full credit for actual miles. I'm not saying to adjust it. Just work up a correction multiplier so you can derive the true miles.

I have some engine work planned this spring on my VW. Am hoping for 2oz/mile. I am going to steepen the rear foil on it.

Still running my snow tires. They should still be good for this summer.
