Goal summer 2013 = 100mpg Tank
As weather is warming up on the Northern Hemisphere of our "Third Rock From the Sun", my mileage is increasing, and my mind harkens to the next big milestone in mileage, the triple digit tank. I'm thinking that if I can keep the fuel system tight, clean up my aero, and stay fully on task while driving, I can make it.
Last tank = 54.16 mpgUS
It's been cold, so no engine off, tail is still a bit wonkey from the accident, snow storms, and got stuck in my driveway a couple times.
Plans are to finally get the tail shaped correctly, enclose the wheel wells, clutch, correctly time the fuel pump, timing belt and accessories, get MPGuino running on the diesel, and replace the starter.
Anybody else with me?

I think it will take som more to get to 100 mpg. You have to almost double current mpg. Al things equal, you must reduce air and rolling resistance aaccordingly to reach your goal.

Go, friend!
Like Jyden, I think a 100 mpg tank is a tall order. But definitely a good goal.
Do you already have LRR tires? Are you coming up on replacement time? If so, go for the best you can afford. Probably Michelin or Bridgestone.
I know you're way ahead of my knowledge on the mechanical stuff.

Thanks, Guys.
Jyden- I pulled an 81 mpg last summer just after dropping in the diesel. I haven't been EO(ff)Coasting due to cold, instant boost once I start .
Yes, it is a tall order, that's the point .
Bruce- No LRR right now, I still have the sticky tires that I put on last year for the Bonneville attempt. I'm thinking of picking up another set of Insight tires and keep the stickies for high speed runs like Loring AFB or Bonneville.
2000neon- 70 is a good goal. Come on warm weather!!!

I'll be in it with you Jethro! I do already have a 100 MPG tank goal with the CRX, but I wasn't expecting to get it on my first year/Summer. However, what's the hurt in trying REALLY hard to make it there THIS year?!?! My last tank was 59.48 MPG, and not my best one either (63.93 being my best).
The process getting to 100 MPG should prove to be fun, to say the least!

81 mpg is very impressive. I wish you luck with the new goal, but it's gonna take almost every trick in the book to get the 100 mgp constenly.
