Angry Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr................

Alright, I reset my trip meter and refilled my tank.
since then I've been hypermilling and right now (1/2 tank, 250mi) i've apparently almost doubled my MPG. (i usually have to refill around 200 or 250)

But i spend longer on the road.
This means there are more chances for me to get pulled over.
I refilled my tank and began hypermilling on Tuesday afternoon.
I've been pulled over 4 times.
1 - headlight
2 - dirty license plate
3 - driving funny ("how much did you have to drink tonight?")
4 - TICKET: "Unsafe Vehicle" (back bumper messed up)

the problems is that although i live in a fairly 'normal' part of town, i work in Scottsdale - a very snotty side of town. If your car so much as has a dent then you'll get pulled over for suspicion of drugs or something.

And I'm driving skuttlebutt. (problems posted here: http://forum.ecomodder.com/showthread.php?t=944)

so now, although i saved probably $40 in gas, I'm going to be out $116 for the fine.

The ironic thing is if i was driving "Normal" then i wouldn't of gotten pulled over.

Thanks for letting me rant.

That really sucks. Take it to court and fight the man?

Well, he did make a mistake on the ticket.
Instead of putting down
ARS 28-921

he put down
ARS 28-931

So, technically, it's a ticket for a bad tail light because of his mistake?
MAYBE if i replace a taillight that's not broken, bring a receipt to court, they will dismiss the $116 fine?
(both fines are $116)

I think that's likely (dismissal). A common theme seems to be if you fight a ticketed infraction, most of the time the police don't even show up, and you win by default (whether you're in the right or not).

Isn't citing the wrong law reason enough to not pay a ticket? I'm not sure you even need to replace a light here. The internet has a lot of bad advice about this stuff though, so be careful about who you take it from.

Fix it, then fight the ticket, at least here, you first talk to the district atterny who trys to keep you out of court with some sort of rounded down charge or a plee and a reduced fine, but if you show that you are a good upstanding person who wants the roads to be safe by fixing the problem with your car, then they are going to look foolish wasting the time of a judge.
