The site keeps giving me errors when I try to post. I shared about eight HXes that I found on OfferUp and Craigslist, although I think three of them were other submodels with HX wheels, or the owners were simply stupid. This is the only one that I think is worth considering, 2000 Silver HX with a manual transmission and 168,000 miles. Unfortunately, it has some scratches in the front end, although it should buff out: https://www.copart.com/lot/30801848

A silver HX with 168,000 just sold for $275 in Phoenix:

It looks like the engine was pushed in slightly. Had I been able to bid the minimum would have been $300, plus $384 in fees, and $334.65 to ship. At least $1,018.65 for a car which may have a good engine (and transmission). If so, I could have gotten my money out of it. How high would I have needed to go? What if the engine was damaged?

Exciting!

You need to register before you can bid and they say they require a day to process.

That would be a good thing to let people know before the last step.

Now that's a bit much. Since I found out what HX oxygen sensors cost, and I've had to replace a far cheaper one in my DX, I don't regard them as a great value. I paid a bit more than double for my DX, hail damaged but running well, everything but the windshield washers work, and fully driveable. $1k would not have been any great bargain.

The only Civic that I see on Craigslist or OfferUp that seems worth noting is this weird one:

Quote:
nice running cheap lil Honda Accord [It's a Civic]

We do a test drive and then we scan it with the computer and then the mechanic gets inspection to make sure there's no blown head gaskets or bad trans or overheating issues

Buy it tomorrow morning.
It only has one picture and all that it really says is that it has a clear title and an automatic transmission. They are asking $700. The phone number is for Deer Valley Auto Auction.

I found a rough HX on OfferUp and messaged the owner. Three days later the site told me they sold it to someone else.

They liked someone else's message more than mine and actually responded?

A local kid needs to sell his Accord. It is parked behind a restaurant with an orange sticker on the window. It doesn't run, the front bumper is hanging off like mine was, and it has aftermarket stainless steel intake and exhaust.

The only obvious parts that I would want are the hubcaps.

Hubcaps!

I just wonder what I can get for the parts. He posted it for $800, told me $600, and now $200.

The kid finally got the title. We were supposed to meet up this morning, but I was exhausted, and somehow needed ten hours of sleep.

It has scissor doors, but the driver's side strut detached, so you need to lift the entire door unassisted. The doors damaged both fenders. Someone stole the HVAC unit, the battery, and spark plug wires. Walmart's cheapest battery is $50 and the wires were $33.50 at AutoZone when I replaced mine, so $83.50 just to maybe get the car to run. Would I need to replace the doors to get ones that work right? I read that you need to cut the doors [and body] to do that stupid modification. There is a junkyard half an hour from here with an Accord that I believe is the correct color. Doors on car-part.com range from $40 - $500.

Hopefully the stainless steel intake does have a filter or I can at least attach one. It took far too long to find a resonator for a reasonable price. Another one, the air intake, hose, and everything else?

I wouldn't try.

What would it take to replace the HVAC control? Did they tear\cut the wires?

How do I fix that?

It seems like the best course of action is to try to get it running, drive it here, take off as many parts as I can in three days, and have the rest hauled off, hopefully for around what I paid. I can swap parts from my car to get the other one running.

I just moved a parts car (I've owned for 25 years and it's still parts ) 20 miles. I rented a flatbed trailer for $45 and paid the balance of $100 to my neighbor with an F-150.

The scissor doors prolly ruined the car for anything further.

It would be nice to know if the car works before I part it out.

I asked my neighbor to attach his dolly and tow the car back here. He told me the driver's door was broken.
"No, it opens like a Lamborghini door."
"No, it is broken."

Technically, we were both right.

I already bothered him once. I do not want to do that again anytime soon.
