The Accord sounded like an interesting project, but I did not really have time or space for it. If I bought it for $200 and sold the shell for the same amount, anything that I sold would be profit.

The kid and I agreed on a time for January 17th, but then I didn't follow up. I have been trying to work on my Civic, but I really haven't started. I told him that I was trying to figure out why I had not been paid. It was because I barely missed a deadline due to the death of my grandfather. So, I was not paid for two weeks. I had money in my Navy Federal savings account, but could not figure out how to get it from one account to the other in a timely fashion. I tried Zelle, but it said that I could not send money to myself. I went to send money to Mom, but it said that it would take four days.

Neither Navy Federal nor Bank of America have branches up here [anymore], so that was another complication.

On the twentieth he asked if I had been paid and I told him that no bank does transfers on Monday. On the thirty-first he just sent me a rogue question mark. I do not use my words when people do not bother to use theirs. On Monday (2/3) he asked if I still wanted the car and I responded [again] that I worked two jobs Monday through Wednesday, so I would not be available until Thursday. He never responded and I did not see the car when we drove past today. I asked if he sold it, but I will probably never hear from him again. If the city towed it as they had threatened to (it had an orange sticker on the window) then he will have a $500 abandoned vehicle fine and the car will probaly be hauled to the junkyard, but nothing happens quickly; it takes ninety days to get an abandoned vehicle title.

I saw this yesterday:

A black manual 2000 HX. The owner was asking $700. I would have posted a picture, pretending that someone hit and ran my car while it was parked in front. Then I would have taken the driver's fender and the passenger sun visor and put them on my car. The passenger door looks fine. Mine has a big crease. With luck the exhaust manifold\catalytic converter would have been usable. Mine is cracked. He said the engine still ran, so potentially I could use it or parts thereof. I always see HX wheels for sale. Hopefully I could get at least $100 for a set.

The windshield looks intact and Old School Funk has a video about replacing a windshield yourself, but forget that guy! He writes in all caps! Shouty says to pay a professional good money.

Can I get a second opinion?

Eric the Car guy says the same thing. Old School Funk's video is almost half an hour long, so I wonder how long this takes.

The biggest problem with the Civic was that it was in Phoenix. I asked "What am I going to do, drive down, rent a Penske from the nearest location, tow it to Show Low, drop it off, use the dolly to move my Civic back, then park the other Civic in front, drive to the next nearest Penske location, get an Uber to my car, and finally drive home?"

Mom suggested coming down with me and started listing all of the things that she had wanted to do the last weekend, but couldn't because my lame sister decided that she wanted to have a wedding.

That actually would not have helped any. I still would have needed to make two round trips today and they would have needed to stay in the valley until I got back.

The problem is that Mom wasn't up until I needed to be 3.5 hours away. Who knows when she would have been ready to leave? She did not seem to care about going anywhere today.

Who knows if anyone up here has an HX?

Denied again!

Someone up here posted this Civic:

No engine and the interior looks ruined, but the windshield, hood, and fender look better than the ones on my car. Hopefully I could sell some parts and sell the rest for scrap, but like on-line dating, they talk to me until I try to meet up.

Then they disappear.
