It'd be pretty aerodynamic. Just don't know how practical...
Cool, but shame on the way they did lights and air-con. And front license plate. Also, the front wheel arches are quite bad.
What plane is it?

what plane

I think it's a Douglas DC-8-passenger plane.It has an unusual trailing windscreen element,different from Lockheed,Boeing,Convair,Martin etc..

Lights and front plate are forward of those wheelwells you mention so—Oh well. The airconditioner does look like an afterthought.

Look at the mirrors though, well forward of the 'A-pillar' and the supports are an airfoil facing air moving sideways.

My current favorite:

Nice tapered sides and roof!!!!
Nice partial kam-back made to look like a spoiler.
Nice trip edge on sides and lights.
Bad ski racks.
?? Are the dimples for aero or looks??If so should I try to add such a feature to my Aerocap??
'91 Dodge Aerocap
??Are the ~4" × 1" thick parts on the tips of the cam-back to attract the trailing vortices to them??
Happy modding

Not seeing dimples?

This is supposedly at WikiVisually, possibly among 50 other pictures, but the navigation is indecipherable.

JACG is well organized and annotated, though. This went up today:

Sweet! But the front end looks like a 1970s retro-mobile. ? Yeah, kinda like that.

dimples

I'm also not seeing dimples, but do see the 'bubble-top' as freebeard has shared already.
Abarth I think was the first to use it.Frontal area is trimmed a little. The corrugations in the sheet metal add stiffness, allowing thinner material and weight savings.
If your existing roof was designed like this,it would be good to carry that feature into the cap.At least for some distance necessary to blend it away. But I don't see any benefit just doing it with the cap if the cab roof is conventional.
As to the outside edges,I don't know. They may be hiding hinges under there.Don't know.

Coincidence or genius? Let's let Occam's Razor decide.

Another example might be the pagoda roof on the Mercedes Benz 280 SL

I think it was done for ingress/egress.

This is a rendering, but it is interesting just the same:

It is the concept for the Nikola One hybrid truck.
