It doesn't seem to have plan offset to cover the rider's legs, which could be aerodynamically problematic. Nice to see the evolution of the "dustbin" fairings though.

Dustbin Moto Guzzi of iirc the 50's

V8... but this fairing doesn't cover the legs.
I've seen photos of the racers laid over in a curve with skid-plates on their knees surfing the pavement. There may be so much body English required to toss the bike around in a race that it mandates that the legs and torso be free to move about.
I did TT Scrambles and Motocross at one time and we were all over the bike in a race.

That NSU pic is a good illustration of what aerohead keeps trying to emphasize: that the forebodies of most modern vehicles are quite good; it is clear where the effort needs to be concentrated.

True, but I'm still astounded that those tufts look so glued the the A-pillars.

Isn't it you Frank which sometimes says; attachment is not the goal?

Attached flow is not the goal- low drag is the goal. You could have attached flow via vortexes but it's just going to sap energy. See the Adler on the last page. It's important not only to test but to interpret.

The German Jetcar.
English

799 cc diesel - which is exactly what the Smart diesel has, similar 3-bolt rims, same lay-out (rear engine, front radiator).

Unfortunately, when you get to the pricing and option pages, you're about to get sick ...
Jetcar Customizer
With a/c , rev counter, metallic paint, ABS and alloy wheels, I'm at 55.000 euro !
I can appreciate the fact that a handmade car is going to cost more, but this is really pushing it for what you get.

And it's still a diesel.

I think in most parts of Europe that's a good thing.

Shame about the cost.

There is an electric version of the Jetcar, called the Electro -- the red/orange car.

The Schiavone car has way too much taper on the sides of the rear.

Good point.

Also perhaps the upward angle of the rear is a bit much, it's way more that the top which is unusual. Sort of inverted that way.

George, I see you've found that CCS Alumni page. I've spent quite a lot of time poring over the stuff on there. It has some great stuff, including this one. The desinger went on to design some 90's Ford concept cars.
