Interesting veg oil video

The link above will take you to a fairly interesting video about a old mercedes benz svo conversion. It's definitely worth a watch.

Yeah - neat vid.

SVO or WVO? I think he's doing both...

He talked about SVO from Costco being cheaper than gas, and getting the WVO for free from an Asian restaurant.

I liked his aux. diesel tank sliding around loose in the trunk!

Notice his other car (assuming it's his): Geo Prizm.

I also chuckled at his comment, "sign of a good diesel car is how well it starts cold" as they're walking around outside in their shirtsleeves.

Yeah, he is from California so his "COLD" starts are very limited.

He said he is only running diesel at startup. I didn't really think about the loose tank of gas in back. Yeah, not the safest way.

I like the little tank in back, you can just pull it out for easy fill-ups. He DOES need some sort of quick-release or something to really pin it down.

I HATE having to transport gas in the back of my car for the lawn mower. Does diesel smell as bad as gasoline? Surely it is not nearly so vaporous!

I guess I will throw this in here: Today when I was riding my bike around town I noticed a VW with a bumper sticker that said, "This car is powered by vegetable oil". I didn't really notice any strange smells or anything out of the norm.
