Hey cool. The thread lives again.
Looks like I'll have to finish up the model. The only changes to the model are that I painted it black ( using acrylic paint that i brushed on just to see what it looked like. )
I dropped the model and the windshield broke into several pieces, so I have to rebuild the roof section.

I didn't get very far on the 3D model ( subdivision problems ) *

I 'll try and work some on the physical model.

Glad you like the concept.

* It needs wheels and tires and little details such as the lights, window trim etc.
The main problem with the 3D model is that my old PC died and I now have a Mac. I used Softimage-XSI which is not Mac friendly. I could use Bootcamp, but that is a drag. To add other problems on top of that, the company that made XSI got bought out. Now I need a new license to use the program.
I'm thinking of just using a Blender 3D ....which has a steep learning curve.
So, yeah the 3D model is pretty much dead.

that is one bad looking v-dub. the ghias shape really lends itself to aeromodding and still looking cool. for cooling an option would be how the porsche boxsters tail spoiler pops up and just duct it to the engine fan or vents that motor out like the lambo murcielago
(can't post images yet, but google will fing them real quick)

just a few ideas.

That roof is a work of art.

Reminds me of the Cadzilla.

I wonder how much headroom that the car would have chopped.

An aeromodded EV Ghia would be uber cool, but also a huge money pit.

That and the safety aspect is why I gave up on the idea of something like this.

Hi all,
Just came across this thread, I'm the builder of the karmann ghia above. A lot has changed since those pictures. Mainly the rear end of the car which has become by chance more like the model in this thread.
The rear above was based on cadzilla but didn't really work. In response to the point about the roof, I'm over six foot an fit in easily and I've had people much larger than me in it.
