Linner Strømlinet Vogn (Now with 3D model!)

Here goes. I've been drawing streamlined cars in my sketchbook for over six months now and it's time to make something of it. My plan here is to make a production possible four seat automobile that flaunts its aerodynamics instead of disguising them like the Prius and other contemporary hypermiler vehicles. (Something like a 4 seat EV1)

Here is a tiny sketch I did in my sketchbook. I can't really go too far drawing it because 2D=/=3D. The idea is like a Tatra 77: the body splits the air up and down, and the greenhouse splits it side to side.

I've already started a 3D computer model in Autodesk Alias. Screenshots when I get some more stuff done.

Possibly down the road I'd like to mill a 1:18 scale urethane foam model and test it in real life.

Very open to suggestions before I get too far in the model!

Stay tuned.

That looks great! People talk about FE cars being egg like, but with a look like that; it's more like Top Banana!

Front wheel drive?

How difficult is the windshield going to be to construct?

No more difficult than a Lancia Stratos.

I'm also in Michigan (Ann Arbor), I'd like to see some of your progress in person, might even lend a hand.

There was a Hawk replica importer listed in California, going to cost some to get the glass from the UK in either case. Might be better off with a Lotus Evora windshield, there is a dealer on Woodard in Birmingham.

There is something called "speedglass" which replaces stock glass for a lighter form of plastic. You might want to look into that too.

Sven,

Have you begun to think about the drivetrain?

could this be a rebodied anal probe. that would be alot easier than coming up with a completely new drive train.

i have wanted to build my own vehicle for quite a while always wanted a f1 looking open cockpit style just for back and forth to work just to see the looks on peoples faces at the redlight.

design looks awesome what are you going to use to build it steel tube (roll cage meterial)?

Looks like it's scooping up a lot of air going underneath the body.

Maybe add some fairings aft of the rear wheels ?
