i know i'm reviving a thread from the dead here - but now the question remains:

does anyone know of a type of LRR tyre that is 155/80/13 ......? as this skinnier tyre size has got to get better MPG than a 175/70/13 ...

Here's what I will be referring to:

Barry's Tire Tech

According to the Smithers data, a 175/70R13 is ever so slightly better than the skinnier 155/80R13 - 1/4%. That doesn't appear to be enough to worry about - particularly considering that there can be a 60% difference between tires of the same size.

Continental Eco Contact 155/80 R13.
Standard on the "eco" version of Opel Corsa C (1.0 engine, low CO2 tires).

Are you sure that is right? Tire Rack lists NO tires available in that size.

What year, make, model?

Also, LRR is a relative term, not an absolute one. It means better fuel economy than other tires with similar traction and wear characteristics - and those characteristics can vary widely.

155/80/13 @ $37.50 each walmart, cheapest tires they sell, Douglas brand. My 92Sentra owners manual called for either size. The do make more noise when you go around a turn agressively.

I wonder if they are quieter than the Falkon tires I currently have on. I'm only looking to quiet the road noise. Well, that and improve MPG .

Yup, when I punch those things in, I get 165/70R13.

Looks like you need to find a different size - 175/70R13?
