Saturn S-Series 5th Gear Swap

Recommend the 5th gear mod for any satty. 45mpg if I have time on my hands!

Have used valvoline dexron-VI full synthetic ATF for almost 30k since swapping 5th gear with the donor '99 SOHC trans.

Didn't see this mentioned here or anywhere. The two retaining nuts for 5th gear are 30mm, which in my experience is a difficult size socket to find on the fly. It's a standard axle nut size, but the parts stores near my local boneyard didn't have any stocked.

It takes a lot of torque to get it off, so get yourself an impact socket, and take your longest breaker bar and a long enough extension to get it out of the wheel well. My first two attempts at pulling an S*1 5th gear have not been fruitful, but I'm determined to get that sucker soon.
