Today I'm installing a lower air dam on my Fiesta w/ABA & ScanGauge testing

Today is a fun mod day.

I'll be installing the lower front air dam on my Fiesta S.

ABA testing with ScanGauge II verification will follow.

I did the first A of the ABA with results displayed here :

MY802.COM <----- I use this for photos as my phone doesn't allow uploads to this site directly.

Stay tuned. After lunch today the install & testing continues.

Cool - looking forward to your numbers.

The effect of an air dam may be challenging to see in A-B-A testing because its impact is probably pretty small depending on: A) its design (size), and B) testing speed.

FYI:

(Difference between A and B was just the removal of the air dam.)

Test run #2 (B) of ABA. W/air dam installation complete. SG II results

Photos of ScanGauge II readings here :

Test run #2 (B) of ABA results. | My802.com

Summary of Guage readings :

A gain of only .5 MPG. Assuming there is actually a gain and not some other variable rearing it's head.

Trip time : = @ 1.1 hrs

Distance : = @ 55.3 miles

Max speed run (B) gained 3 mph (essentially equal)

Average speed : = @ 49 mph

MPG (A) @ 50.5 MPG - (B) @ 51 MPG

So all in all not a biggie. One more run to go tomorrow.

I decided on taking an additional "B" run today.

I guess I'm intent on acquiring an extra set of data on my air dam lowering.

It seems if the .5 MPG addition I experienced yesterday is valid, it's worth leaving it on. Cost of the project was about $3.00

A trivial investment that seems to have no drawbacks, at least til the snow comes. 😀

Additional "B" run data to follow later today.

The test runs off only 50 miles kinda stinks, but how far do you drive around before you burn up all your lifetime of savings testing. Lol.

Additional test run (B2) of ABA testing.

So what do you guys think?

Keep it so far..... or put it in the recycle bin?

Here's additional data in photos :

ANY improvement (however slight) is an improvement worth having! Remember, the journey of MILES is comprised of many small STEPS.
