Darrell - that's fascinating. I took an "intro to telescope astronomy" course at the local college last fall, and really enjoyed it. Ironically, one thing that blew my mind was actually about daytime viewing: I had no idea Venus was visible in broad daylight in certain portions of its orbit. I was able to spot it last winter several times in the middle of a clear afternoon once I knew where to look.
