Student / IT Professional. Graduating from Penn State in December with a B.S. in Information Sciences and Technology. Hope to become a network/systems administrator some day, even though all I've done is work at help desks so far.

Well, this is my first post at Ecomodder. I am US Air Force, have been since 91, drive two Dodge vehicles, and enjoy reading and tweaking my truck. Prior to the USAF I spent some time as an FAA A&P mechanic, and worked many odd jobs...
Plan to push my 1500 RAM up to 30 mpg highway. Only time will tell. Dave

Retired FDA Compliance Branch Director, married, with six of the cutest grandkids an unbiased grandparent could have.
I did astronomy volunteer work in three different National Parks the past three years, and started hypermiling to and from the parks. All of my mileage gains come from modifying my driving habits.

Econoram: welcome to the forum. If you're not afraid of aero mods, that's the direction to head. Look up Phil's (Aerohead's) Toyota T-100 for example.

Metrompg,
We show the wonders of the night sky to park visitors through telescopes. The vast majority of them come from light-polluted cities, so just seeing the Milky Way is amazing to them. We show them things like the Andromeda Galaxy, the globular star cluster Messier 13, the Owl or ET Cluster, the Lagoon and Swan Nebulae, and Albireo (a beautiful blue and yellow double star combination). On full moon nights, we show them the Moon and the larger planets (usually Jupiter or Saturn are up). Each object is unique and remarkable in its own way.
It gives me the opportunity to live and view under some of the darkest skies in the country, and I get to do some education every night. If I'm showing them the Andromeda Galaxy, I may tell them it's the farthest object visible to the naked eye, and the light we're seeing started traveling to us 2.5 million years ago, about the time our ape-like ancestor Lucy was walking the earth.
I volunteered in Chaco Culture National Historic Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, and Bryce Canyon NP last year.

I was an ejection seat/environment control systems mechanic on the AV8B Harriers in the Marine Corps for 5 1/2 years. I was officially out of the USMC in June and now am going to school full time at a community college. I plan to take up general studies in this college, and then transfer to a 4 year college to work on getting a degree in physical therapy.

Darrell - that's fascinating. I took an "intro to telescope astronomy" course at the local college last fall, and really enjoyed it. Ironically, one thing that blew my mind was actually about daytime viewing: I had no idea Venus was visible in broad daylight in certain portions of its orbit. I was able to spot it last winter several times in the middle of a clear afternoon once I knew where to look.
