You do need to make sure there is some airflow through the rad. In the winter you might get away with a full block. You need to leave an opening in your grille and in the belly pan. You can experiment with the grille by changing the block till it does not overheat. The best way would be to have a good size opening in your belly and change the rad block till optimal. Or if you are inventive, an adjustable grille block.
