Good question.

The CFD analysis of the Mitsu Evo that showed a small (0.006) improvement in Cd with delta style VG's; Renault used them in the same placement on an eco version of a small sedan with a short decklid (http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ighlight=logan).

I'm inclined to think they may have a small positive effect in limited applictations. But they're not the magic bullet that many seem to hope for.
