On the TDI, you don't even take a look at the filter to see if you need to change it as they have one time compressible seals. Once you open that airbox, it's too late to turn back.

Wouldn't that be the MAF? Isn't the MAP located past the crankcase vent tube connecting to the intake? In this case the MAP is getting oiled already from the crankcase fumes going in the intake.
