I did both: before buying my first vehicle (yes, the question was this general! I needed something to commute, mostly alone.) I kinda looked up their fuel consumption. I didn't want to feel worse for my footprint than necessary, you know. And I still ended up buying a bigger bike than I originally planned

Tire pressure is always over the factory recommended, kill switch is a given on a motorcycle and I often use it, and I trained my left hand to P&G (using the clutch for hundreds of kms surely makes my grip stronger ) and I always strive to neglect training my right hand on the brake
