I'm with JasonG on that one.
There's always the potential for something new to be done.
Shoot, back in the late '60's I thought all American cars were fuel sucking pigs, and the people were whining that Detroit really couldn't make anything more fuel efficient than what they were making then. Somehow they figured out a few things they could do. Unfortunately they moved with the speed of molasses on a cold winter morning.
So again, we here are running ahead of the manufacturers. Only because one guy with a rivet gun and a drill and a 10-15 year old car can move a lot faster than a large corporation, or even a small one. It takes them decades, unfortunately, to do what we'd like to see.
