Gasoline Fumes,
Nice pics! Thanks for posting them!
That's my gray Civic with the Kamm back / roof extension and the flat wheel covers.
I scored 62 mpg on my MPGuino, came in 1st in Class (2M).
Been flat out ever since the GGP, haven't had time to log in here and say anything.
Was a great event.
Yes the GGP still has issues trying to measure fuel used. A few of us think the GGP should get a sponsor to loan the use of some super accurate scales for that purpose. Undoubtedly very expensive to buy, especially if you only use them once/year for a non-profit venture. But if they can get scales accurate to an ounce or so each (4 per car) the total possible error wouldn't be too bad.
Gasoline weighs 6.073 lb/gallon (but varies with temperature).
If a car uses 1 gallon to drive the GGP and you want to discern between cars you need to detect a difference of maybe 1/20 gallon between cars.
To detect 1/20 gallon:
6.073 pounds/20 = .3037 pounds * 16 = 4.86 ounces
