Got some more info for all of you trying to duplicate it.
Costs were more in the $100 range.
Mounting:
using two straps and starting on the inside, going from the top hatch crack corners (using a metal clip bent into a U as an anchor point), going straight back to the hatch/ tail light crack. then going through an i-bolt (in wooden 1x6 of the frame) then diagonally to the bottom 1x6" frame (to another i-bolt about a third of the way in from eh edge) then to the underside to the towing hooks.
The frame is made from 1by material. two 1x6s are used with foam edging up tight to the car. on is just under the OEM lip/ spoiler the other on is a few inches up from the bottom of the bumper.
Detailed pictures do exist but not online or in my possession
I asked for them to be posted and we will see what comes of it.
As for why the tail was not on when I last saw the car is because the car is not being used much anymore and might be sold. Tail is still around but not in use.
