Encouraging thread. Thanks. My hope is to keep my 1998 Civic indefinitely. I bought it used with 27,000 miles in June 2001. It now has 198,000. In the last two years I have been learning to do all the work myself (cheaper) I have a good AAA membership, and I continue what I have done since the beginning: drive it gently and maintain it regularly. Upstream O2 sensor just failed, and I replace it and the downstream sensor tomorrow with brand new OEM Denso units.

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.
