The 3C discharge rate of the large prismatic cells work great for a typical EV conversion. Plus the large format makes pack assembly much easier than the smaller A123 cells.

I think the interest in A123 is more for their high discharge to weight ratio, for use in a higher performance vehicle. A relatively light pack can make a lot of hp compared to Sinopoly or Winston. My 40V, ~75 Ah, 65 lb A123 packs will sustain 19C (about 1,400A) with less than 20% voltage sag, and can deliver at least 2,400A.
