I was in a similar situation yrs ago.

I had a 79 rx7 that I raced SCCA Showroom Stock SoloII. I kept 50 series times on the 14 stock alloy rims and kept my 66 mustang 6cylindar to putter around town in.

THe little rotary (in the rx7) had a 4 bbl carb that just SUCKKEDDD down the gas.
I figured I wasnt going to be able to change it enough to get decent mileage.
