Perhaps a bit anti-climactic, but the company just announced today that the Canadian version of the car will also be called "Mirage". Priced below $13k.
Of interest to those in the U.S: the Canadian announcement provided MPG figures for both the CVT
and the 5-speed transmissions. So we are able to reverse-engineer 5-speed figures for the US, since Mitsu only provided CVT mileage figures when the car was unveiled in New York last month.
5-speed MPG (US) estimates:
34 city / 43 hwy / 38 combined
Compared to the CVT version:
37 city / 44 hwy / 40 combined
This is good news for manual transmission lovers. Why? Because it won't be hard to beat the CVT's mileage performance in city driving, and the highway difference is minimal. (They may even get the same
steady speed highway fuel economy, considering the CVT is probably more efficient during the acceleration portion of the highway tests.)
