I suspect zigzag tape would only "work" where there's laminar flow. It's just too thin, and the boundary layer is way too thick and turbulent over most of the car -- and getting worse the further back you go.

Plastic wrapped tail turned out not horrible!





A heat gun blowing all over the 3 mil plastic worked reasonably well to smooth it out. It was VERY wrinkly before -- even after trying hard to make it taut while laying it on the spray adhesive.

I'm leaving this AM for a long-ish weekend highway trip. Fingers crossed for the "big 100" ...
