BMWs from that era were some of the handsomest cars on the road, hands down. Elegant simplicity, like Princess Di. Not necessarily pretty, but beautiful nonetheless.
And it translates into a very handsome little estate, too. Compare, for instance, the 1955 Nash Rambler wagon vs a 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon. The Legacy looks better as a wagon than a car, the Rambler is clearly a car struggling (and failing) to be a wagon, and this E30, unlike either of them, does brilliantly as both.
I think your next big mod ought to be the rear bumper parachute. A couple of guys on some of the Volvo forums mentioned the huge bucket back there on their rides (contemporary 200-series), added axle-back belly pans and enjoyed immediate, noticeable results. And it is completely invisible without somebody getting under the car and looking around, so no worries about getting stopped for non-compliance.
