Going for stock parts in a Bimmer is for those who like to blow money.

Unfortunately, my BMW is still AUDI (Always Under Diagnostic Investigation)

tried 2x working fuel pumps yesterday and got nada- looking likely possible earthing issue..

hoping to resolve it when I get back from Holiday.

In the meantime I'm using the good lady's more fuel efficient Clio 172

BMWs from that era were some of the handsomest cars on the road, hands down. Elegant simplicity, like Princess Di. Not necessarily pretty, but beautiful nonetheless.

And it translates into a very handsome little estate, too. Compare, for instance, the 1955 Nash Rambler wagon vs a 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon. The Legacy looks better as a wagon than a car, the Rambler is clearly a car struggling (and failing) to be a wagon, and this E30, unlike either of them, does brilliantly as both.

I think your next big mod ought to be the rear bumper parachute. A couple of guys on some of the Volvo forums mentioned the huge bucket back there on their rides (contemporary 200-series), added axle-back belly pans and enjoyed immediate, noticeable results. And it is completely invisible without somebody getting under the car and looking around, so no worries about getting stopped for non-compliance.

Fuel pump issue resolved, and car back in use now- back to 64 miles a day minimum.

Had to top up the tank today, and including the 5L added to rule out lack of fuel when the pump failed- she gave 35.78mpg (imp)

none too shabby!

I may be in a position at the end of the week to get service items for her- so here's hoping I can get her serviced in the next week or so.

Then its time for some modding
