Hello and welcome! One idea would be to put a 1992-1995 VX or CX transmission in instead, since you are planning the swap. I think your 1996 DX *hatch* had the same final drive as the 1996-2000 HX (the DX coupes and sedans had shorter final drives). That means you already have the 3.725 and could with a just as simple bolt-on get the VX or CX trans an its 3.250 final drive.
