What are your favorite transmission repair/mod books, if any? Not necessarily Honda specific. All recommendations welcome.

I am continuing the prep for my rebuild of my old 1998 Civic DX coupe transmission. I want to replace the FD with the VX FD I bought a couple years ago. Before I consider buying one of these rebuild kits from Synchrotech, I want to properly test and diagnose any issues with my oldie. So I need to learn more than youtube and my Honda FSM can offer. I have never rebuilt a transmission. I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color.
