I wouldn't use either, personally. I wouldn't want anything resting on the outside paint to prevent it damaging the paint.

Also, I wonder how important that level of detail is at the back of the car where the boundary layer is already fairly thick. (It's already 30 mm thick at the trailing edge of the roof of the Mitsu Lancer Evo with the VG's for example.)
