I keep saying this in other places, and it continues to fall on deaf ears because of our "personal liberties" national culture. Just because you are free to make choices doesn't mean you should make some of those choices.

You're free to choose to drive as fast as you want, but at no point do you get to escape (unless no cop was watching) the consequences for disregarding the speed limits. There are hundreds of other drivers on the roads, the vast majority of them are just trying to get somewhere with no drama. Imagine some grandma tooling down the road at 5-under when suddenly some big Odyssey goes wailing by at Warp Factor Three. You might startle her into an unintentional lane change or something. Even if you're halfway into the next county by the time her fender hits the guardrail, that's actually an accident you caused.

I keep saying, leave behavior like that on the track. That's the only place it ever belongs. Having a vehicle that will do 160mph is not permission to drive that fast on public roads. So much more important than "you're not supposed to," you could cause someone else to get hurt, which is utterly inexcusable.

In the meantime, congrats on the discovery of the other, more immediate economies of hypermiling.
