Got the upper control arms out and the new ones in! Pictures as promised.
Lesson learned.
These old mounts are no-name ebay cheapos and cost just under one-third of the new parts.
I don't want to think what could have happened if these things let go on the highway.

I mentioned that the new control arms felt heavier, and I was right! Here's the proof, in pounds and ounces.
Old - 2lb 14.9 ounces
New - 3lb 6.7 ounces
Hopefully these new upper control arms will last a lot longer. If the money has anything to do with it, they'll last at least 3 times longer. Only time will tell.
